About The Position

The Assistant, Field Operations supports the preparation and maintenance of Segra Stadium for Fayetteville Woodpeckers games and other events, including concerts and festivals. This hands-on position offers an opportunity to gain experience in professional baseball turf management, field maintenance, agronomic practices, and irrigation systems. It is suited to candidates interested in sports turf, eager to learn, and looking to advance a career in Minor League Baseball groundskeeping.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, speak, and comprehend English to collaborate effectively with others.
• Ability to lift and maneuver at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to carry, walk, sit, push, pull, and move continuously during work hours.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Ability to work long and irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Learn to assist with field maintenance at Segra Stadium.
• Assist in preparing Segra Stadium for home Fayetteville Woodpeckers games, high school and/or college games, and other outside events throughout the season.
• Provide input on and help execute a seasonal agronomic plan for Segra Stadium.
• Assist with aerification, topdressing, overseeding, verticutting, and other agronomic and cultural practices.
• Perform clay maintenance and management on mounds, home plate, the infield skin, and warning track areas.
• Assist with irrigation repairs and system tuning.
• Learn tarp management during varying weather situations.
• Work with the Front Office and Stadium Operations team to learn how to help prepare for large-scale outside events such as concerts, festivals, and corporate outings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Field Operations.
