About The Position

The Assistant, Field Operations supports the preparation and maintenance of Equity Bank Park for Wichita Wind Surge games and other events, including concerts and festivals. This hands-on role provides experience in professional baseball turf management, field maintenance, agronomic practices, and irrigation systems. It is suited to candidates passionate about sports turf who are eager to learn and develop a career in Minor League Baseball groundskeeping.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, speak, and comprehend English to collaborate effectively with others.
• Ability to lift and maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Ability to carry, walk, sit, push, pull, and move continuously during work hours.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Ability to work long and irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Learn to assist with field maintenance at Equity Bank Park.
• Help prepare Equity Bank Park for home Wind Surge games, high school and/or college games, and other outside events throughout the season.
• Provide input on and help execute a seasonal agronomic plan for Equity Bank Park.
• Assist with aerification, topdressing, overseeding, verticutting, and other agronomic and cultural practices.
• Perform clay maintenance and management on mounds, home plate, infield skin, and warning track areas.
• Assist with irrigation repairs and system tuning.
• Learn tarp management for varying weather situations.
• Work with the Front Office and Stadium Ops team to learn how to prepare for large-scale outside events such as concerts, festivals, and corporate outings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Field Operations.
