About The Position

The Assistant Executive Director (AED) helps create joyful and vibrant communities by providing exceptional leadership, overseeing and supervising specific operations and community staff and departments. By being available to staff, residents and families, the AED is able to keep a pulse on community culture and address concerns in a timely manner. The AED is responsible for assisting with communicating the vision of the organization and consistently demonstrating our Mission and Values.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years old.
  • Obtained certification of completing a recognized administrator training and has three years paid experience providing direct care to vulnerable adults OR managing persons providing this type of care.
  • OR Associate degree (or higher) in a related field (health, social work, business administration, etc.) AND has completed a qualifying administrator training program OR completes the program within six months of starting administrator duties OR has two years paid experience providing direct care to vulnerable adults in a setting licensed by a state agency for this type of care OR managing persons providing this type of care.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Basic mathematic skills – ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to create and interpret bar graphs.
  • Clear reasoning abilities; able to apply common sense and creative problem solving; reacts calmly and efficiently in emergencies.
  • Solid public speaking and communication skills.
  • Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
  • Resident care philosophy with a focus on providing the highest level of quality service and professional interaction.
  • Ensures a clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff & visitors.
  • Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
  • Able to understand and oversee staffing schedules.
  • Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
  • Has compassion and special interest in working with the senior population.
  • Maintains CPR and First Aid Certification as required by State regulation.
  • Pass a Criminal Background and fingerprint check.
  • Maintains current Food Handlers Card.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to creatively problem-solve in both resident care and employee management.
  • Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision).
  • Able to read and understand monthly financial statements and budget reconciliation reports.

Responsibilities

  • Inspiring a joyful and vibrant community and recognizing staff.
  • Leading daily stand up meetings and monthly All Staff meetings.
  • Meeting with residents and staff to ensure satisfaction and engagement, and overseeing survey processes.
  • Implementing goals and objectives consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with State Regulations, corporate and community policies and procedures.
  • Supervising and overseeing resident programs and projects.
  • Explaining policies and programs to the public and representing the organization in meetings.
  • Selecting, training, mentoring, evaluating personnel, and managing employee performance, including hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing complaints.
  • Obtaining bids/contracts for projects and services, and overseeing contractor performance.
  • Attending and participating in required meetings and trainings.
  • Supervising, overseeing, and monitoring departments and programs in front reception, maintenance, housekeeping, dining, and life enrichment.
  • Ensuring efficient organization and management systems are operating at optimum level.
  • Understanding existing budget, vendor, and contractual relationships, and requesting changes.
  • Complying with annual budget parameters, forecasting fund needs, monitoring and approving expenditures, and implementing mid-year adjustments.
  • Hosting monthly town hall meetings with residents and family members.
