About The Position

Byron Manor Senior Living, a Cardinal Senior Living community, is seeking an Assistant Executive Director to serve as the operational right hand to the Executive Director and help lead the community’s day-to-day performance. This is an operational leadership role, not an administrative assistant position. The Assistant Executive Director directly leads department heads, coordinates priorities across the community, manages workforce and operating performance, resolves resident and family concerns, and ensures commitments are carried through to results. When the Executive Director is unavailable, this role serves as second-in-command. The role oversees the community’s operating rhythm, including daily and weekly priorities, department-head execution, staffing and operational readiness, work orders, vendors, projects, service issues, move-ins, events, inspections, and cross-department coordination. The Assistant Executive Director sets expectations, coaches leaders, recognizes strong performance, addresses missed standards, ensures department ownership, and escalates leadership or capability issues when needed. The position maintains a visible presence in the community and ensures resident and family concerns receive clear ownership, communication, root-cause attention, and follow-through. In partnership with department heads and the Business Office Manager, the role supports appropriate staffing, schedule and attendance discipline, onboarding, overtime and agency control, expense and purchasing discipline, vendor accountability, and performance against approved budgets. The role connects labor, resident experience, service quality, retention, and financial performance. A bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Hospitality, Operations, or a related field is preferred; equivalent progressive operating leadership experience will be considered. Clinical licensure is not required, and clinical decisions remain with licensed clinical leadership. The position is full-time, salaried, and on-site in Byron Center, Michigan.
