About The Position

GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Power Generation Engineering Manager for our Pittsburgh area offices, Warrenton, VA office, Richmond, VA office, Canton, OH office, Columbus, OH office or Bridgeport, WV office. This role involves assisting with business development, managing projects within the Power Generation industry (primarily renewables), and leading civil engineering activities. The ideal candidate is driven and eager for leadership and management opportunities.

Requirements

B.S. or M.S. Engineering
Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.

Nice To Haves

Desire and ability to travel to Project sites, as needed, primarily in the mid-west and mid-Atlantic region of the United States.

Site Layout/Grading Plans
Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
Stormwater Management Plans
Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan
Permit Applications (earth disturbance permits, building permits, land development plans, high occupancy permits, industrial NPDES permits, waste reporting, discharge monitoring reports etc.)
Hydrologic and Hydraulic/Drainage Plans
Utility Design and Relocation Plans
Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans
Geotechnical Investigations
Permit Applications (earth disturbance permits, building permits, land development plans, high occupancy permits, etc.)
Stream and Wetland Delineations and Associated Permits
Cultural Resource Investigations and Concurrences
Rare Threatened and Endangered Species Consultations and Concurrences
Construction Drawings, Specifications , and Quality Control Plans
Construction Cost Estimates
Owner’s Engineer Support during construction
Field Investigations
Technically lead engineering tasks in area of expertise
Successfully delivery of scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability
Plans and manages small to medium value task, with a single or dual discipline focus and a low to medium risk profile
Applies thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of engineering related to the variety of aspects affecting their practice.
Applies progressively acquired expertise to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions.
Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting their practice and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis of projects.
Leads projects of moderate complexity and scope or leads a major project.
Analyzes complex problems across specialty areas appropriate to the practice of engineering.
Analyzes ethical dilemmas to determine appropriate courses of action.
Occasionally serves as the technical advisor for the practice in the application of advanced concepts and methods in an assigned area.
Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the practice for the purpose of recommending changes in projects or applications.
Occasionally develops new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products.
Values and analyzes sustainable performance of complex engineering projects from a systems perspective.
Occasionally plans, schedules, and coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects or is responsible for an entire project of a practice.
Analyzes project management plans for complex engineering projects.
Understands project delivery uncertainties and uses risk management principles to address them.
Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.
Supervises a staff of engineers and technicians.
Receives administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Provides continued mentored experience to senior staff.
Integrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of engineering and fosters creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability in staff.
Applies principles of formal strategic and persuasive communications.
Represents their area of specialty within the practice and liaises with related individuals and practices.
Routinely interacts with practice leaders, clients, officials, contractors, and others.
Integrates concepts of effective teamwork and leadership.
