About The Position

Duquesne University seeks a high-performing, relationship-driven admissions professional to serve as an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions. This role is designed for a motivated admissions practitioner who has demonstrated success in territory management and is ready to expand their impact through increased responsibility, strategic thinking and ownership of key initiatives. Building on a strong foundation in recruitment, the Assistant Director serves as a primary University representative in an assigned territory while also managing a defined area of specialization that contributes to the advancement of enrollment strategies, processes or programs. This position requires a balance of execution and initiative, with an emphasis on continuous improvement, data-informed decision making and a solutions-oriented approach. The successful candidate will bring a track record of results, strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment. This role requires adaptability, sound judgment and a willingness to take on increasing responsibility, and includes travel and evening or weekend commitments during peak recruitment periods. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • 1-2 years of experience in college or university admissions, enrollment management, or a closely related student-facing role.
  • Demonstrated success managing recruitment territories and contributing meaningfully to enrollment outcomes.
  • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting undergraduate students and increasing the visibility of Duquesne University within recruitment territory. Additionally, demonstrating success and competency in successfully managing assigned territories (funnel growth, relationships strengthened, more refined travel activities, recruitment initiatives, etc.).
  • Communicating with a large volume of prospective students through outbound phone calling, text messaging, personal emails, handwritten notes, individual appointments (in-person and virtual), and the regular use of arsenal (both printed and web information as well as members of the campus community - i.e., faculty, alumni, current students, coaches and parents of current students).
  • Cultivating, engaging, grading, persuading and closing prospective students, qualifying conversations and generating next steps (visit, apply, file FAFSA, submit enrollment deposit, submit housing application, register for classes, etc.).
  • Making financial planning calls.
  • Developing meaningful relationships with alumni, school counselors and other constituents in recruitment territory.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of and ability to effectively communicate regarding all aspects of Duquesne University, including but not limited to mission, core values, policies, academic programs, student life, outcomes, athletics, housing, financial aid, billing, advising, etc.
  • Reporting on a regular and ongoing basis to enrollment management leadership regarding all recruitment activities utilizing data from Banner, Slate, Power BI, etc.
  • Making recommendations to improve recruitment tactics and further develop visibility and recruitment strategy.
  • Coordinating and executing a recruitment travel schedule inclusive of college fairs, high school visits, information sessions and regional receptions. Travel may occur on weekdays and weekends.
  • Projecting and managing a travel budget on a University procurement card.
  • Evaluating undergraduate applicants’ academic credentials/participating in the admission decision-making process, including awarding of academic scholarships.
  • Managing an area of specialization outside of traditional recruitment territory.
  • Adapting to shifting policies and responsibilities in order to prove readiness for new tasks that require breadth and depth.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
