About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Student Life & Leadership Development, the Assistant Director of Student Clubs & Leadership Development supports the planning, implementation, and assessment of comprehensive student engagement opportunities that foster leadership development, campus involvement, and student success. This position collaborates with the Director of Student Life & Leadership Development and the Student Life Pocono Program Coordinator to develop and execute in-person, virtual, and on-demand programming across the College’s campuses. The Assistant Director provides administrative oversight for student clubs through the College’s student engagement software (N-gage), facilitates student leadership initiatives, supports club operations & budget processes, supervises student staff, and promotes collaboration among student clubs, campus departments, and the broader College community to enhance student experience.

Requirements

  • Attainment of a Bachelor’s Degree from a Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) approved Institutional Accreditor required.
  • Knowledge of current concepts in Student Life, Leadership Development, and Student Services.
  • Operate effectively as a member of a departmental team.
  • Organize and work effectively with small groups.
  • Work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and community representatives.
  • Adapt to differences and changes in program, colleague, student and community characteristics.
  • Refined technical and managerial skills.
  • Works with and relates to community constituents.
  • Ability to use technology systems and tools to support Student Life operations.
  • 3-5 years’ experience preferred in student services.
  • Served in an administrative capacity.

  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education/Student Personnel or related field from a regionally-accredited college or university preferred.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Director of Student Life & Leadership Development, plan, publicize and execute evening, virtual, weekend, on-demand, social, & educational/leadership programs & events for all students.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Student Life & the Pocono Program Coordinator to develop, implement, and assess student engagement programming and initiatives that support student involvement and success.
  • Creates and implements leadership development opportunities and events for students, including but not limited to the annual spring leadership class and at least one leadership programming (certificate program) series each semester.
  • Works with Academic Affairs and other functional areas at the College to develop programming for specific student populations to align co-curricular experiences with academic programs and strengthen connections between classroom and out-of-classroom learning.
  • Acts as a liaison between Alumni Affairs & Career Services for the leadership endowment.
  • Works with the Director of Student Life to design, implement, and facilitate leadership training and professional development opportunities for student club officers and advisors.
  • Serves as a primary administrator for the College’s student engagement software (N-gage) by reviewing, approving, and processing forms in a timely manner as submitted by student clubs which include but are not limited to; purchase requests, reimbursement requests, event/fundraiser requests, & travel requests.
  • Provides guidance, training, and on-going support to student clubs regarding organizational operations, use of the student engagement platform, event planning, financial procedures, risk management, and other administrative processes.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Life to collect, analyze, and report assessment data related to student clubs and student engagement through the College’s student engagement software.
  • Works to strengthen collaboration between student clubs and the Office of Student Life by connecting clubs with Student Life or other college related events and initiatives.
  • Works with the Director of Student Life & Student Senate to provide guidance and support to student clubs during the annual spring club budget request process.
  • Oversees the student club point system by maintaining records of club participation and engagement, verifying point allocations, and utilizing point totals as a component of the annual student club budget request process.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Student Life to annually review, revise, and enhance student club resources, training materials, operational procedures, and the Student Club handbook to ensure compliance with College policies, promote best practices, and support the ongoing success of student clubs.
  • Supervises the social media & marketing work study position, and in collaboration with the student worker, develops, schedules, and implements social media marketing through Hootsuite to promote student engagement opportunities and departmental initiatives.
  • Ensures assigned programs & events are accurately submitted and maintained in the Marketing Department’s events calendar, on the student engagement software (N-gage), and the inter-departmental collaborative “behind the scenes” planning calendar to ensure accurate promotion, scheduling, and departmental coordination.
  • Participates in Student-Services sponsored events, including but not limited to New Student Orientation, Open House events, admissions programs, and other College events as assigned.
  • Serves on college-wide committees, task forces, and work groups as assigned.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Student Life & Leadership Development.
