About The Position

The Office of the Commandant (OOC) serves and supports departments within the Corps of Cadets that are critically engaged in all aspects of student development and the delivery of key services and support. OOC departments work to create environments that help students grow, develop, learn, and enhance their experience at Texas A&M by providing leadership opportunities, experiential education, and connections beyond the classroom. This position will be part of a centralized team that supports the active recruiting efforts of future cadets and their families to Texas A&M and the Corps of Cadets. The Assistant Director is responsible for Standards and Accountability within the Corps of Cadets, by, with and through the Cadet leadership chain and in line with university policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Four years of experience with ROTC/Corps of Cadets.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as principal contact for Standards and Accountability for the Office of the Commandant.
  • Assess instances of alleged misconduct and coordinate necessary and appropriate action using the Cadet leadership chain.
  • Act as representative for the Commandant in instances of alleged violations of the Standard.
  • Serves as Commandant's representative with Student Conflict Resolution Services and for the University Disciplinary Appeals Panel in cases involving Cadets.
  • Overall coordinator, supervisor and mentor in all disciplinary actions in the Corps of Cadets, including preventative training, advising Cadet review boards and working with university stakeholders.
  • Maintain records of alleged violations of The Standard and Texas A&M Student Rules.
  • Coordinates with other University level agencies as required to resolve problems.
  • Oversees financial management operations in the above areas.
  • Provides leadership, vision, organization and systematic approach to problem solving to ensure quality services to the Corps of Cadets as well as members of the Commandant's staff.
  • Coordinates Office of the Commandant representative response for Student Conduct conferences.
