The University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Community Standards and Accountability (CSA) upholds the University’s Code of Student Conduct and academic integrity policies, providing a fair and consistent process for addressing allegations of student misconduct. CSA investigates and resolves cases involving both academic and non-academic misconduct by graduate and undergraduate students, and works to foster a campus culture of accountability, integrity, and respect. The Deputy Director of Community Standards and Accountability reports to the Executive Director of CSA and is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of CSA’s case management function, including direct oversight of three full-time Investigators/Associate Directors. The Deputy Director hires and performance manage these staff, collaborates with the Executive Director on performance appraisals and expectations, and serves on the department’s Leadership Team alongside the Executive Director and the Deputy Director of Restorative Practices at Penn (RP@P), helping to integrate restorative practices into the department’s broader approach to case resolution. The Deputy Director provides regular feedback and guidance to Investigators/Associate Directors on case handling and approves day-to-day case resolutions. The Deputy Director also directly investigates and resolves allegations of academic and other misconduct, interviewing accused students, complainants, and witnesses; manages case-related communications and documentation; and represents CSA at formal disciplinary hearings through case completion. The Deputy Director works closely with the Executive Director to identify, implement, and document internal protocols and procedures for case handling, collaborates on strategic outreach and communication efforts, and acts as Director of CSA in the Executive Director’s absence.
