About The Position

This is a full-time professional fundraising position responsible for running and overseeing the law school reunion programs. The position will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of reunion classes in an effort to engage new donors, identify leadership prospects, and train prospects and volunteers about the case for giving to Tulane Law School. The role involves soliciting and closing gifts for the Tulane Law Fund and for law school priorities. It also requires working with officers and staff throughout Advancement to identify leaders for the class reunion effort, ensure strong participation in giving and attendance, and develop strategies for closing annual, major, and planned gifts during the reunion cycle. The position will develop and execute the Tulane Law School student philanthropy and reunion plans on an annual basis, including the recruitment and management of volunteers; cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors; and design and implementation of communication strategies and events. This position will collaborate closely with Tulane Law School Alumni Relations, Advancement Officers, and Advancement Communications with the goal of increasing attendance, donations, and engagement among Tulane Law reunion celebrants. Additionally, this position will actively collaborate with the Professional School Annual Giving and Reunions and Campus-wide Annual Giving teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years direct fundraising experience in the solicitation and closing of gifts, or transferrable experience. Transferrable experience includes marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, trust officer, or sales.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and 9 years’ direct experience.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant experience, education, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple demands and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel substantially and attend events on weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team structure.
  • Ability and commitment to serve as a positive, contributing member of the Development team.

Responsibilities

  • Travels nationwide to recruit class leaders and solicit Tulane Law Fund leadership gifts towards the reunion class gift.
  • Manages reunion volunteer training.
  • Coordinates direct solicitation of Annual Fund for reunion class members.
  • Compiles data and mailing materials for reunion solicitations including class gift and donor honor roll information.
  • Develops a timeline for direct mail and calling solicitations.
  • Formulates reunion dollar and donor goals based on past giving.
  • Conducts extensive research about the classes through a high volume of in-person surveys of class members to identify leaders for the class reunion effort in consultation with others.
  • Recruits class committee members and chairs for each reunion year; coordinates letters from class chairs and direct mail solicitation pieces and stewardship and follow-up calling to reunion class members with Advancement Communications.
  • Works with the Law Fellows program to provide information to the reunion volunteers.
  • Attends university-wide and law school-specific WAVE Weekend meetings.
  • Assists at the annual reunion events during WAVE weekend.
  • Oversees the Graduating Class Gift Campaign and student philanthropy initiatives.
  • Recruits 3L students to the Graduating Class Gift committee and manages student volunteers.
  • Tracks all gifts from the class and maintains spreadsheets, drafts communications, develops/plans/staffs student philanthropy education events, provides updates for web page and communications, coordinates committee trainings and plans committee thank you event with dean.
  • Oversees stewardship including writing thank you notes, distributing graduation beads and adding student names to the Law Commencement program.
  • Researches student philanthropy campaigns at peer schools and presents new ideas and strategy for enhancing current program.
  • Liaisons with Undergraduate Student Philanthropy, University Alumni Relations, and Law Alumni Relations to help Tulane Law better leverage already existing events and processes.
  • Collaborates with Donor Relations colleagues to partner on ThanksTU program.
  • Works with Tulane Law School staff, including Dean of Students and Office of Academic Affairs, to support initiatives.
  • Directs the stewardship of law school reunion donors and volunteers by: sending personal thank you letters, creating and sending a donor honor roll, and organizing and sending thank you gifts for reunion volunteers.
