About The Position

This position plays a key role in housing operations, student support, crisis response, community engagement, and residential education initiatives while fostering an inclusive and supportive living environment that promotes student success and well-being. The Assistant Director of Residence Life will oversee housing systems and data management, coordinate move-in and move-out processes, collaborate with campus partners regarding housing accommodations, and assist with housing contract cancellations, appeals, administrative transitions and serve in the Director's absence needed. This role includes hiring, training, and supervising student staff in collaboration with Hall Directors while ensuring accurate record keeping and effective coordination with Facilities and Campus Safety. This position serves in an on-call rotation and responds to student concerns including mental health crises, emergencies, behavioral concerns, and parent outreach. The Assistant Director of Residence Life serves as a conduct hearing officer for low-level student conduct cases and participates actively on the CARE Team to support students of concern through coordinated intervention and follow-up care. The Assistant Director of Residence Life will also contribute to training and development initiatives for professional and student staff, represent Residence Life with outreach and presentations, support student leadership development, assume Hall Director responsibilities when needed and participate in major departmental and campus events including orientation, move-in, and check-out processes. Additional responsibilities include supporting departmental communication efforts through housing platforms, websites, social media, and student engagement tools while ensuring messaging remains clear, accessible, and aligned with institutional values. This position will also serve on committees, contribute to assessment and process improvement efforts, and remain informed on current housing and student affairs trends. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational abilities, adaptability, communication skills, crisis response capabilities, and a commitment to fostering inclusive residential communities within a Catholic liberal arts environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in residence life, housing, student affairs, or related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation, facilitation, and training experience.
  • Experience responding to student concerns, crisis situations, and student conduct matters.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours emergencies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive residential communities.
  • Commitment to the mission of a Catholic, liberal arts, women’s college.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field preferred.
  • Experience using housing management systems such as eRezLife.
  • Experience with student support, case management, conduct processes, and crisis response.
  • Experience supervising student staff and coordinating residential operations.

Responsibilities
