The Office of Information Technology is responsible for selecting, deploying and supporting software, hardware and telecommunication resources for the 400+ staff members and 200 volunteers of the Central Administrative Offices (CAO) of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington (CDA), the Arlington Catholic Herald (ACH), and the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington (CCDA) to utilize in fulfilling their mission within the Diocese. The Information Technology Office is a group of generalists divided into network and application services teams that collaborate on delivering services and projects. The Network Services team is primarily focused on the infrastructure, security and productivity software for the three entities. The network is a two-domain environment with a single AD forest and includes 15 remote Catholic Charities Offices (CC) using point-to-point VPN. The Assistant Director is a hands-on technical leadership and management position with supervisory responsibilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that the Diocese’s network, telecommunications, infrastructure, and security environments are reliable, secure, available, and aligned with organizational needs. The purpose of the role is to provide direct oversight of day-to-day network operations while also guiding infrastructure strategy, security planning, disaster recovery readiness, technology budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives for the CAO and CCDA entities. The Assistant Director works in collaboration with the Director to develop policies, plans, and operational standards; supervise and support assigned technical staff; and serve as the final escalation point for complex network, infrastructure, and security issues. In the absence of the Director, this position provides departmental oversight to maintain continuity of IT operations and staff direction.
