About The Position

Emory University is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Engagement Programs to plan and execute student engagement initiatives that foster connection and belonging among returning and under-engaged student populations. This role involves advising the Student Programming Council, coordinating Dooley After Dark programming, supporting population-specific engagement initiatives, and collaborating with student organizations and campus partners to provide educational support for effective program design and event planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of experience working in a college or university student residential environment, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • A master's degree in higher education, leadership, or other related areas is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, and assesses student engagement programs with a focus on returning student populations, including upper-division students, transfer students, and other under-engaged groups.
  • Collaborates with student organizations to provide educational support for event planning and execution, including workshops, consultations, and guidance on program design, logistics, and engagement strategies.
  • Develops and maintains event planning resources and toolkits that promote best practices, risk awareness, and inclusive engagement for student-led programs and events.
  • Coordinates and executes Dooley After Dark programming, including evening and weekend events, in alignment with departmental priorities, available resources, and population-based engagement goals.
  • Serves as the primary advisor to the Student Programming Council (SPC), supporting student leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and alignment with institutional expectations.
  • Supports the execution of ATLBound and other population-specific engagement initiatives through program planning, coordination, and collaboration with campus partners.
  • Collaborates with faculty, academic departments, and campus partners to implement co-curricular engagement opportunities, such as course-connected programs, academic community-building events, and discipline-specific mixers that support student connection and belonging.
  • Partners with student organizations and campus departments to co-create engagement opportunities that support belonging, connection, and meaningful involvement.
  • Manages operational aspects of engagement programming, including event logistics, vendor coordination, and contract processes, in partnership with appropriate campus offices.
  • Serves as a resource and advisor to students involved in engagement and programming efforts, supporting student development through mentoring and informal advising.
  • Assists with staffing and support of major engagement initiatives, including Weeks of Welcome and Homecoming Week, in collaboration with the Associate Director and other departmental colleagues.
  • Stays informed about current trends and best practices in student engagement, belonging, and co-curricular learning to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Serves on departmental, divisional, or university committees or task forces as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
