About The Position

Chatham University welcomes applications for the position of Assistant Director of Student Employment in our Enrollment Management Department. The Assistant Director of Student Employment provides leadership and oversight for Chatham University’s internal student employment program, managing institutional and Federal Work-Study student employment opportunities across the university. This position oversees the administration, budget management, compliance, and strategic coordination of student employment, ensuring effective stewardship of institutional resources while supporting student access, retention, and professional development. A central focus of this role is the management and oversight of student employment budgets, including allocation, forecasting, reconciliation, and analysis of wage expenditures across departments. The Assistant Director partners with human resources and other campus offices to ensure student employment resources are managed effectively and aligned with institutional priorities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Three to five years of relevant experience in student employment, financial aid, budgeting, or higher education administration.
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, financial analysis, and resource allocation.
Knowledge of Federal Work-Study regulations and student employment practices preferred.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency with financial systems, spreadsheets, and student information systems.

Nice To Haves

Experience in enrollment management or financial aid administration.

Responsibilities

Lead the administration of Chatham’s internal student employment program, including institutional and Federal Work-Study positions.
Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and operational practices related to student employment.
Serve as the primary point of contact for campus supervisors regarding initial position requests, approvals, and federal work study funding.
Support departments in developing meaningful on-campus employment opportunities that contribute to student learning and engagement.
Manage the institutional student employment and Federal Work-Study budgets, including planning, monitoring, forecasting, and reconciliation.
Allocate and track departmental student wage budgets and monitor spending throughout the fiscal year.
Analyze employment utilization trends and recommend adjustments to maximize resources.
Prepare budget projections and reports to support strategic decision-making and annual planning.
Partner with Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and HR leadership on student employment strategies that support affordability and institutional goals.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations related to student employment and Federal Work-Study.
Coordinate with Human Resources, Payroll, and campus departments to support accurate processing and policy adherence.
Maintain records and prepare reports for audits, regulatory review, and institutional reporting.
Monitor program effectiveness and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and service.
Collaborate with human resources to develop and deliver training for student supervisors and campus partners.
Use data and assessment to evaluate program outcomes and improve the student employment experience.
