About The Position

The Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy is seeking an Assistant Director of Stewardship and Annual Giving to join their team. This role will report to the Senior Director of Partnerships and Advancement and will be responsible for managing a portfolio of prospective donors, overseeing the annual giving program, and administering stewardship and donor relations initiatives for the college. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, excellent, passionate, and able to interact with a varied population of internal and external partners with a high level of integrity, supporting the university's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-5 years of experience in alumni and volunteer engagement, strategic relationship management, event and program development, or fundraising.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
  • Applicants must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Strategic management of a specific annual giving program and its coordination with other giving programs within the college and university.
  • Overseeing all aspects of the annual fund programs, including solicitations (direct mail, e-mail, special campaigns), the telemarketing program, monitoring results, and modifying plans to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Overseeing the creation, administration, and implementation of stewardship and donor relations initiatives for Heinz College.
  • Partnering with the Chief Advancement Officer and development staff to design strategies and manage the execution of endowed and annual fund establishment, usage monitoring, stewardship reporting, and donor-focused communications.
  • Orchestrating donor engagement programs and events to facilitate meaningful engagement.
  • Serving as the primary liaison to ensure seamless coordination between University Donor Relations and Heinz College.
  • Overseeing a designated portfolio of 25 to 50 prospective donors with a projected gift potential of $25,000 or less.
  • Executing the complete sequence of donor relations, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects.
  • Conducting personal outreach through visits, supplemented by targeted communications via mail, telephone, and electronic platforms, or through volunteer coordination.
  • Developing and refining strategic activities for leadership annual and Andrew Carnegie Society level gifts, defining specific intent and financial targets, and partnering with stakeholders for gift closures.
