About The Position

United Security Services, Inc., seeks to employ an Assistant Director of Security for the Chicago area. With nearly 100 years of experience, we’ve built a reputation as one of the most trusted and established security providers in the country. The Assistant Director of Security is responsible for assisting the Director of Security in the daily operations of hotel security. This role also involves coordinating with local law enforcement and other emergency responders as necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in security management, preferably in a hotel or large facility setting
  • Strong working knowledge of emergency response, life safety systems, and regulatory compliance
  • Valid Illinois PERC card (Permanent Employee Registration Card)

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Hospitality Management, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Security in overseeing the full scope of daily security operations, including staffing, shift management, scheduling, discipline, and deployment of security personnel across all areas of the property.
  • Design and lead ongoing training programs for security staff covering emergency response, de-escalation, loss prevention techniques, guest service expectations, and legal compliance.
  • Build and maintain staff schedules that align with business forecasts, event calendars, and budgetary guidelines; manage overtime and maintain payroll accuracy.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and enforcing the hotel's security policies, post orders, and standard operating procedures to reflect current best practices and brand standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments of all areas of the property: including guest floors, back-of-house, loading docks, parking facilities, and event spaces, and recommend corrective action where vulnerabilities are identified.
  • Lead or co-lead investigations into incidents involving guests or associates, including theft, fraud, accidents, workplace injuries, and acts of misconduct.
  • Maintain the department's incident documentation system.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with the Chicago Police Department, Chicago Fire Department, and other local emergency response agencies; serve as a primary liaison during active incidents.
  • Co-develop and maintain the hotel's emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and crisis management protocols; ensure all security personnel are trained and ready to execute them.
  • Respond to and take command of life safety emergencies. This includes medical situations, fire alarms, and security threats. Coordinate with hotel leadership and emergency responders as needed.
