The Associate Director of Sales is responsible for assisting the Director of Sales in the direction, coordination, and supervision of the Sales Managers, Catering Manager(s) and the Sales Administrators in all sales-related activities, including direct sales efforts, follow-up and proper sales administration. This role involves developing a full working knowledge of hotel operations, company sales policies, and market awareness to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies. The position requires meeting or exceeding set goals, assisting with budget management, and coordinating group and transient bookings to maximize profits. It also includes maintaining an active sales solicitation program, participating in staff meetings, and assisting with training and reporting within the sales department. The role emphasizes motivating, coaching, and disciplining the Sales and Catering Team, monitoring account production, and conducting daily business review meetings in the absence of the Director of Sales. Additionally, it involves assisting with hiring and development, understanding sales policies and techniques for maximizing occupancy, ADR, and banquet/catering revenues, and conducting site inspections. The position also requires developing strategies to increase market share, utilizing the computerized sales management system, monitoring sales incentive plans, and assisting with sales trips, budget preparation, and marketing plans. The Assistant Director of Sales & Marketing will also meet and greet onsite contacts, attend employee meetings, abide by Prime Selling Time (PST), understand GDS systems and ISIS, and develop networking opportunities. Reacting to negative market trends with promotions and handling inquiries are also key aspects of the role.
