Assistant Director of Nursing - ADON
About The Position
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is a leadership role supporting quality resident care, nursing staff, and regulatory compliance. The position calls for dependability, strong clinical judgment, multitasking, and collaboration in a dynamic environment. The ADON may assist with floor staffing as needed and contributes to resident-care programs, including MDS, care planning, performance improvement, and infection control. The role also oversees nursing staff and documentation, coordinates individualized care plans, ensures staff have needed resources, and conducts assessments and infection-control measures.
Requirements
- Be a licensed nurse in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
- Have strong technical skills and proven leadership or management experience.
- Have a background in geriatric or long-term care nursing.
- Embrace a restorative care philosophy and have strong assessment and communication skills.
- Have working knowledge of nursing home regulations and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist with floor staffing when needed.
- Contribute to MDS, care planning, performance improvement, and infection control programs.
- Hire, train, evaluate, assign, and delegate nursing duties based on census and budget needs.
- Review and maintain accurate, up-to-date resident records.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing teams, and consultants to develop individualized care plans.
- Ensure timely access to equipment, supplies, and other care resources for staff.
- Conduct assessments and implement infection-control measures.
