About The Position

River Point Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of UHS, is an 84-bed treatment facility in Jacksonville, FL, specializing in substance abuse and mental health treatment for youth, adults, and seniors. The FT ADON (Assistant Director of Nursing) position is available at River Point Behavioral Health. The ADON develops department goals, objectives, standards of performance, policies, and procedures, organizing the department according to administrative guidelines. This role advises Administration on procedural changes related to patient care and directs the implementation and compliance with the Standard of Nursing Practice to promote optimal healthcare delivery. The ADON coordinates interdisciplinary care on patient units, monitors unit functioning, and initiates problem-solving. While not a direct supervisor of non-nursing staff, the ADON ensures unit organization and may address concerns with other treatment team members or non-clinical support staff, involving the Director of Nursing as needed. In collaboration with House Supervisors and nursing staff input, the ADON ensures adherence to best practice standards and serves as the DON designee when appointed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current FL RN license or current license from a compact state required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Handle with Care certification required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent Psychiatric experience.
  • Child, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric Age-Specific Competencies.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or BS preferred.
  • Recent management/administrative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops department goals, objectives, standards of performance, policies and procedures.
  • Organizes the department in accordance with administrative guidelines.
  • Functions in an advisory capacity to Administration in evaluating proposed procedural changes as they relate to patient care.
  • Directs the implementation and ensures compliance with the Standard of Nursing Practice that promotes optimum health care delivery.
  • Responsible for the coordination of the interdisciplinary care delivered to patients on patient care units.
  • Monitors the overall functioning of the unit and initiates problem solving activities when necessary.
  • Keeps the activity on the unit organized and may intervene to discuss concerns, problems, or suggestions with other treatment team members or non-clinical support staff.
  • Involves the Director of Nursing as necessary.
  • Ensures that best practice standards are adhered to at all times in collaboration with House Supervisors and with input from the nursing staff.
  • Serves as the DON designee as appointed by the DON.
