Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON, RN)
About The Position
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, organizing, developing, and overseeing the Nursing Service Department’s daily functions. The role helps ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards to maintain high-quality care, as directed by the Executive Director, Medical Director, or Director of Health Services. The ADON helps lead the clinical team, coordinate nursing and ancillary services, implement the clinical staffing model, and perform administrative work. The position also participates in the facility’s Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and prepares for facility surveys and accreditation programs.
Requirements
- Associate degree or advanced degree in Nursing.
- Current, valid state RN license.
- Current, valid CPR certification.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the DON to help select, retain, develop, and lead the clinical team.
- Assist in coordinating nursing and ancillary services with other department leaders to ensure continuity of residents’ total regimen of care.
- Assist in implementing the clinical staffing model and perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, audits, evaluations, and charting.
- Participate in implementing and maintaining the company’s Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
- Participate in and prepare for facility surveys and accreditation programs conducted by authorized regulatory agencies or the company.
- Help ensure the Nursing Service Department complies with federal, state, and local standards and maintains high-quality care.
