Assistant Director of Nursing - ADON
About The Position
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is a leadership role supporting quality resident care, nursing staff, and regulatory compliance. The role requires dependability, strong clinical judgment, multitasking, and collaboration in a dynamic environment. The ADON may assist with floor staffing as needed; contributes to MDS, care planning, Performance Improvement, and Infection Control programs; and oversees nursing staff and resident documentation. The ADON also collaborates with physicians, nursing teams, and consultants to develop individualized care plans, ensures timely access to equipment and supplies, and conducts assessments and implements infection control measures.
Requirements
- Licensed nurse in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
- Strong technical skills and proven leadership or management experience.
- Background in geriatric or long-term care nursing.
- Restorative care philosophy, with strong assessment and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of nursing home regulations and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist with floor staffing when needed.
- Contribute to MDS, care planning, Performance Improvement, and Infection Control programs.
- Hire, train, evaluate, assign, and delegate nursing duties based on census and budget needs.
- Review and maintain accurate, up-to-date resident records.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing teams, and consultants to develop individualized care plans.
- Ensure timely access to equipment, supplies, and other care resources.
- Conduct assessments and implement effective infection control measures.
