About The Position

WesleyLife is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), a Registered Nurse, at Hearthstone. The ADON collaborates with the Director of Nursing (DON) to provide nursing leadership for Long-Term Care and Skilled households. The role supports staff development and supervision, resident care evaluation, staffing, infection control, regulatory surveys, quality improvement, and efficient nursing operations. The position also communicates with physicians and family members about residents’ status as appropriate.

Requirements

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Iowa and graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience; geriatric or long-term care experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations, quality assurance, compliance, and clinical practices.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills to develop and supervise nursing personnel in a team environment.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and skilled in effective delegation.

• Experience in a geriatric or long-term care setting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the DON on overall nursing leadership within Long-Term Care and Skilled households.
• Provide ongoing training, support, and supervision to employees.
• Assist in evaluating the health care services needed for each resident.
• Assist with oversight of staffing schedules.
• Schedule and conduct in-service meetings for staff.
• Prepare for and participate in surveys and inspections conducted by authorized government agencies.
• Partner with the DON to improve nursing operation efficiencies.
• Oversee the infection control program and reporting.
• Communicate with physicians, family members, and others regarding resident status as appropriate.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Audit nursing staff skills.
