About The Position

Western Slope Healthcare Center is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to help lead our exceptional nursing team and ensure the highest quality of care for our residents. This role involves partnering closely with the Director of Nursing to oversee daily clinical operations, provide leadership and support to the nursing staff, and ensure a positive, resident-centered culture. The ADON will play a key role in maintaining clinical excellence, mentoring staff, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current California nursing license in good standing
  • 3–5 years of nursing management experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required
  • Ability to lead by example while fostering a positive and accountable work environment

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • PCC (PointClickCare) experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and supervising nursing services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Provide leadership and support to licensed nurses and nursing assistants.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and mentoring nursing staff.
  • Participate in employee evaluations, performance improvement, and disciplinary processes.
  • Serve as the clinical leader and backup to the Director of Nursing when needed.
  • Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor resident conditions.
  • Ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, high-quality care while protecting their dignity and rights.
  • Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Assist with policy development, implementation, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct and coordinate nursing in-services and staff education.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Stay informed of regulatory changes and communicate updates to the nursing team.
  • Provide direct resident care when necessary.
