The Department of Nursing Administration at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/per diem Assistant Director of Nursing. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the department's daily operations, including scheduling of staff to align with units' nursing care hours. This role serves as a role model, mentor, and manager, utilizing ethical principles to guide decisions and actions consistent with University Hospital of Brooklyn's operating goals and objectives. The position requires adherence to appropriate policies and procedures in the delivery of quality patient care, collection and maintenance of data to support Process Improvement-Evidence Based practice, and ensuring the unit council maintains productive monthly meetings. The Assistant Director will develop and implement innovative strategies to promote team spirit and boost morale, take an active role in managing services, and promote education and professional development for staff, students, and patients. Collaboration with other members of the healthcare team and professional staff is essential in developing educational goals for the service. The role also involves directing and enforcing compliance with federal, state, and regulatory agency standards, and monitoring and promoting the improvement of the patient care process.
