About The Position

Springlake Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking an energetic, professional, and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing to join their team. This role involves providing residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with their assessment and care plan, and under the direction of supervisors. The Assistant Director of Nursing will support the Director of Nursing in managing the day-to-day functions of the nursing services department, ensuring exceptional care and recovery for patients and residents.

Requirements

  • Nursing degree (RN or LVN) from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a supervisor in a nursing care facility or other related health care facility.
  • Six (6) months of experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
  • Current unencumbered active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state of Texas.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate resident care.
  • Be a supportive team member.
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines for nursing care facilities.
  • Possess leadership and supervisory ability.
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and directing the nursing services department.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a nursing services organizational structure.
  • Work with the MDS/RAI Coordinator to schedule, conduct, and submit resident assessments.
  • Allocate resources efficiently to ensure residents achieve their highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals, consultants, and organizations.
  • Coordinate with other resident services for continuity of care.
  • Interpret long-term care regulations and requirements.
  • Assist in developing nursing policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in obtaining and posting daily staffing information.
  • Participate in developing and updating resident discharge plans.
  • Develop and update nursing services objectives and philosophy statements.
  • Ensure reference materials at nurses’ stations are current.
  • Recommend necessary reference materials to the Director of Nursing.
  • Monitor Quality Measure Reports.
  • Participate in facility surveys as requested.
  • Participate in the facility’s quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) program for the nursing services department.
  • Conduct administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, and charting.
  • Serve on and attend various facility committees in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled reviews of discharge plans.
  • Schedule, attend, and participate in Care Plan Committee meetings.
  • Serve on the QAPI Committee as directed.
  • Ensure direct nursing care is provided by qualified personnel.
  • Greet newly admitted residents and escort them to their rooms.
  • Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
  • Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules.
  • Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission.
  • Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
  • Provide the Director of Nursing with information regarding resident needs and department capabilities.
  • Report medication errors and problem areas to the Director of Nursing and assist in corrective actions.
  • Schedule daily rounds to observe residents and ensure nursing needs are met.
  • Ensure staff provide care reflecting resident wishes.
  • Participate in preliminary and comprehensive assessments of resident nursing needs.
  • Participate in the development of person-centered care plans.
  • Encourage resident and family participation in care plan development and review.
  • Assist the Staff Development Coordinator in planning and conducting in-service training.
  • Attend continuing education programs.
  • Provide leadership training for Charge Nurses/Nurse Supervisors.
  • Ensure nursing services personnel follow departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure personnel use safety equipment appropriately.
  • Maintain resident care areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
  • Ensure adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) is available.
  • Ensure personnel follow infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Participate in procedures for reporting hazardous conditions or equipment.
  • Participate in the infection prevention and control program.
  • Report missing/illegible labels and SDSs.
  • Assist the Director of Maintenance with preventive maintenance for department equipment.
  • Ensure SDSs are on file for hazardous chemicals.
  • Ensure only trained personnel operate facility equipment.
  • Participate in procedures for the safe operation of nursing services equipment.
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Director of Nursing.
