About The Position
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a critical support role to the Director of Nursing (DON). This position involves comprehensive involvement in planning, developing, organizing, directing, and evaluating the Nursing Department's services and activities. The ADON ensures that operations are harmonious across departments, emphasizing a holistic and rehabilitative approach to maximize resident independence. In the DON's absence, the ADON assumes supervisory responsibilities to maintain department functionality and compliance with regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Unencumbered, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas or a compact license.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in a healthcare setting.
- Commitment to elder care and ability to work with diverse personality types.
- Competent decision-making skills with creative initiative and mature judgment.
- Proficiency in computer applications relevant to job duties.
- Access to reliable transportation for flexible work scheduling.
Nice To Haves
- Advanced education and/or managerial experience in nursing.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily operations and support strategic planning and evaluation of nursing services.
- Establish objectives and standards for nursing in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct quality indicator audits for improvement.
- Conduct resident rounds to monitor care quality and directly involve in patient care as needed.
- Ensure efficient staffing to meet resident needs and manage the department in the DON's absence.
- Facilitate communication about resident status changes and establish rapport with all stakeholders.
- Implement nursing care standards and policies, working the floor when necessary.
- Lead nursing staff training and development, promoting excellence and continuous improvement.
