Requirements

  • Knowledgeable in nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • State of Iowa RN License

Responsibilities

  • Lead and optimize nursing staff operations by developing schedules, training and mentoring employees, delegating responsibilities, and fostering professional growth through regular feedback and evaluations.
  • Shape the care environment by developing and updating clinical policies and procedures, coordinating care with other departments, and enhancing the overall quality and continuity of resident care.
  • Serve as a vital resident advocate —evaluating healthcare needs, facilitating care planning with families, and ensuring physical, emotional, and social well-being are prioritized.
  • Drive quality assurance and compliance by overseeing infection control, conducting in-service training, and supporting survey readiness and regulatory inspections.
  • Be a hands-on leader —providing leadership support in the absence of the Director of Nursing, guiding restorative nursing efforts, and stepping in as needed to support team success.
