About The Position

Baylor University is seeking an Assistant Director of Ministry for Life. The Assistant Director of Ministry for Life will work closely with the Director to support the continued development, implementation, and growth of the Ministry for Life initiative at George W. Truett Theological Seminary. The primary function of the Assistant Director is to ensure the many operational, administrative, and programmatic elements of the initiative run smoothly and effectively in support of students, ministry leaders, faculty, and partner organizations. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, exercise independent judgment, and function effectively without detailed supervision of daily tasks. The work will assist in the operationalization of the $10m initiative.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree and three years of relevant work experience are required.
  • All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

  • A Doctoral degree and five years of relevant work experience are preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of one another.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the coordination and administration of graduate academic certificates, including course scheduling, student recruitment, communication strategies, digital design, and overall program management
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, ministry partners, and external stakeholders to strengthen pathways into certificate programing and support the seminary’s broader mission of leadership development and theological education
  • Assist in cultivating strong participant experiences from recruitment through program completion while helping maintain integration with existing seminary systems and institutional processes
  • Coordinate the expansion and administration of residency programs, in conjunction with the Mentoring in Ministry program of Truett Seminary, by recruiting and maintaining relationships with partner churches, assisting in the recruitment and placement of students, and providing orientation and on-boarding support for all residency participants
  • Coordinate ongoing communication and semester check-ins with students, church mentors, and ministry supervisors to ensure strong engagement, accountability, and program effectiveness throughout the residency experience
  • Coordinate all internal processes to ensure proper renumeration and grant compliance
  • Aid in assessment and evaluation processes for the residency programs, helping measure outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and support the long-term growth and sustainability of the initiative
  • Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and logistical support for spiritual formation groups, leadership cohorts, collaborative team meetings, and other gatherings connected to the Ministry for Life initiative
  • Manage communication, calendars, participant coordination, event preparation, and follow-up evaluation to ensure meaningful engagement and effective collaboration across all pillars of the project
  • Work closely with faculty, staff, ministry partners, and program leaders to support events and experiences that foster vocational discernment, leadership development, and spiritual formation for students and ministry leaders
  • Serve as an outward-facing representative of George W. Truett Theological Seminary and the Ministry for Life initiative by cultivating and maintaining relationships with churches, ministry organizations, denominational partners, donors, and other external stakeholders
  • Communicate regularly the vision, mission, and opportunities connected to Ministry for Life through meetings, conferences, recruitment events, and partnership gatherings, often serving as a primary point of contact and spokesperson for the initiative
  • Confidently articulate the goals and impact of the program in both formal and informal settings while helping strengthen the seminary’s presence, partnerships, and engagement within the broader ministry community
  • Engage in the work to achieve set goals for the overall success of the seminary
  • Participate in chapel and the broader work of the seminary is expected
  • Assist the Director of Ministry for Life
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
