Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an institutionally accredited College or University, or equivalent combination of education/training/experience;
  • Experience supervising students (e.g., Resident Assistants, work study, etc.) or other employees;
  • Must successfully pass a background check, including any individuals over the age of 18 residing in the assigned housing, in accordance with maximum occupancy guidelines;
  • Must be eligible to reside in on-campus housing, adhering to everything outlined in the Housing Agreement, and maintain that eligibility throughout the duration of employment;
  • Must possess, or obtain within 6 months of hire, current CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing residence life programing, events, and activities;
  • One (1) year of professional employment in student housing or student life and activities experience;
  • Experience working in a community college housing setting;
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations which impact Housing & Residential Life programs and students such as CAS Standards, Fair Housing Act, HEOA, FERPA, Title IX, student conduct, and due process, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director for Residential Life in coordinating and administering the overall Residence Life program, including student development, operations, application processing, placement, assignment, billing, maintenance, room inspections, inventory management, move-in/move-out, and other essential processes in assigned residence hall(s);
  • Instill a sense of community, maintain operational standards, implement new services, and develop awareness of issues within the assigned residence halls, working with the Director to initiate responsive efforts;
  • Implement all policies and procedures of the Office of Student Housing, promote student rights and responsibilities, and assist with resident conduct, reporting, and behavioral concerns;
  • Initiate responses to urgent situations, emergencies, and crises on an on-call basis, taking appropriate actions within policies; participate in the on-call administrator-in-charge rotation for Student Housing;
  • Participate in Resident Assistant (RA) recruitment, selection, and hiring processes; hire, train, supervise, and evaluate RAs in partnership with the Director, providing ongoing leadership, staff development, and conducting regular staff and one-on-one meetings;
  • Work with housing staff to assess student needs and interests, anticipate and promote educational and recreational programs, and support initiatives that enrich the residential community;
  • Assist with training staff for programming, participate in workgroup training, advisory committees, college-sponsored events, and programs; facilitate and lead training or events as assigned;
  • Serve as a resource and referral for student staff and residents dealing with residence hall problems, including facilities issues, resident mediation, behavioral concerns, and personal matters;
  • Collaborate with campus partners (e.g., counseling services, campus safety, facilities, and student services) to support student wellbeing and residence hall operations;
  • Must reside on campus and will be subject to on-call hours; and,
  • Other duties as assigned.
