The Office of the Provost (OtP) is responsible for carrying out the academic mission of the University of Oregon (UO). The office works collaboratively with faculty and staff to enhance academic excellence, student success, and the UO’s overall academic profile. Led by the provost and senior vice president, the OtP is a dynamic, caring community of colleagues committed to the core values of integrity, trust, equity, collaboration, and excellence. The OtP supports and coordinates matters that pertain to faculty success, including hiring, retention, promotion, leadership development, and tenure processes. We promote the highest standards in teaching, research, and service, working closely with schools, colleges, and other critical academic units to promote institutional and personal flourishing. We are responsible for academic financial allocations and the alignment of resources with strategic academic priorities. In service to the public mission of the UO, the OtP cultivates reciprocal relationships of engagement and outreach with communities at the local, regional, and national levels and across the globe. Reporting the Director of Communications for OtP, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing and overseeing strategic, proactive, and cohesive communications for the University Career Center, working closely with UCC leadership, as well as providing communications support for UO Online and OtP more generally. The Assistant Director conceives, develops, implements, evaluates, and refines communication and marketing strategies to achieve maximum impact with target audiences, providing content and creative direction, as well as managing projects independently. This will include working with the Director of Communications and the Division of Student Life to develop a comprehensive engagement strategy for enrolled undergraduate students. The Assistant Director designs visual communications content for print, digital, and other media to support Oregon Rising priorities and OtP programs, using the UO Brand and Style Guide, and provides solutions for OtP clients to follow those brand guidelines in print and digital materials they create. The Assistant Director will lead social media campaigns directed at current students, faculty and staff, and other audiences identified as a priority for the institution. The Assistant Director will work independently to create concepts, develop content, publish posts, and evaluate content performance.
