The Mayor’s Office is building a team that will provide continued support to the Cleveland Division of Police (“CDP”) to fully comply with a 2015 Consent Decree aimed at strengthening the City’s police force. The Mayor’s Police Accountability Team (“PAT”) works to facilitate an objective and thorough review process of the Consent Decree and assist with its implementation. The goal is to achieve successful compliance, continuous review, and collaboration with CDP. Objectives will include policy review, updates, audits, and critical data analysis to capture results and make recommendations for appropriate modifications to ensure best practices going forward, post Consent Decree. The City of Cleveland's Department of Law seeks an attorney to provide legal support and expertise to the PAT and to support the continued implementation efforts on the Consent Decree. Under the direction of the PAT Executive Director, the attorney will be a critical component to the City’s police reform work. A strong work ethic, passion for public service, and strong academic credentials, research and legal-writing skills are required. Ohio Bar membership in good standing is required. The ideal candidate must be hard-working, technically proficient, and able to analyze complex issues of law all while working well as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
