About The Position

This role supports the recruitment and retention of international students, focusing on first-year and transfer applicants. The Assistant Director manages international student inquiries and applications to meet enrollment goals, counsels students and families on admissions and processes, and advises prospective students during campus visits. The position involves conducting university information sessions, evaluating international undergraduate applications, making admission decisions, and tracking enrollment outcomes. It also includes coordinating and assessing international recruitment agents, assisting with on-campus recruiting events outside of normal business hours, attending professional development conferences, and traveling domestically and internationally. The role involves developing relationships with counselors and recruitment agents, supervising student employees, and serving as the Slate team liaison for the Office of Admission. As a representative of the university, the individual must adhere to NACAC's Guide to Ethical Practices in College Admissions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Working knowledge of Slate CRM, Workday SIS, the university and federal financial aid system, and enrollment management.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates international undergraduate applications by reading and assessing transcripts, leaving exams, essays, letters of recommendation and determines admission to the university.
  • Communicates admission decision to prospective student and related constituents.
  • Responds to electronic correspondence (email, text, social media) from prospective international students and their family members in a timely manner.
  • Counsels and evaluates prospective international undergraduate students and families concerning requirements for the enrollment process, scholarship opportunities, English language proficiency, the I-20 and student visa process.
  • Conducts university information sessions both on and off campus, providing information regarding courses of study, scholarship guidelines, and other facets of the University for students, families, agents, counselors and other specialty groups.
  • Assists in the development of a strategic recruitment strategy for all international students by assessing geographical regions to determine best opportunities for enrollment and the generation of inquiries, applicants and admitted students.
  • Plans and conducts travel, as needed, to a designated geographical region to represent the university to international students and their families.
  • Coordinates with the Slate team to plan, train and develop new systems and integrations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
