About The Position
The City of Longview, Texas, is hiring an Assistant Director of Finance for its award-winning Finance Department. This newly created position is part of the City’s succession plan and is designed to support the department’s continued success. The Assistant Director works closely with the Director of Finance, City departments, external auditors, and vendors, and reports to the Director of Finance. The role plans, coordinates, and manages the day-to-day operations of the Finance Division. It oversees month- and year-end closing, coordinates the annual audit, administers the City’s Tyler Munis ERP system, and develops and monitors the budget. The Assistant Director also serves in the Emergency Operations Center during City emergencies. The salary range is $130,000–$140,000, depending on qualifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- Three years of experience managing accounting or financial operations.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Knowledge of GAAP, GASB requirements, and computerized accounting systems.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- Experience managing accounting or financial operations in a municipal government environment.
- Other applicable financial certifications; interested applicants with such certifications are encouraged to apply.
