About The Position

As Assistant Director of Engineering, you back up the Director of Engineering and help keep each managed property running safely and reliably. This role exists to align building engineers and property managers, keep systems stable, and maintain occupant comfort. Completing mandatory safety classes is necessary as well. This is a hands-on leadership role that keeps buildings efficient and dependable.

Requirements

Hands-on knowledge of commercial building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety)
Ability to climb ladders
Valid driver’s license
Completion of mandatory safety classes

Responsibilities

Coordinate day-to-day operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
Supervise engineering staff and support consistent standards across sites
Drive preventative maintenance compliance and track follow-through
Serve as the point of contact between Building Engineers, Property Managers, and the Director of Engineering
Maintain a safety-first approach in all work and decisions
Check in with onsite teams and review overnight issues or open work orders
Move between buildings, walking key areas, and syncing priorities with property managers
Spend part of the day on the phone or in brief huddles to keep communication clean between engineers and leadership
Review maintenance logs, confirm PMs are being closed out, and document what needs attention next
Ensure the next day’s coverage and access needs are lined up
Assist with training new engineers
