About The Position

The Assistant Director of Employee Relations supervises and supports provides leadership to his or her assigned HR Managers and HR Generalists ensuring best practices on a wide range of employee relations issues, including compliance with policies and procedures, providing advice and guidance on complex and challenging matters, and conducting investigations and preparing reports. Performs core human resources functions for all directly assigned programs. Manages and completes specialized HR projects as assigned by the VP of Human Resources.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of HR procedures and practices covering staffing and employee relations
  • Familiarity with other HR functions, such as benefits and training
  • Knowledge of Vinfen services
  • Knowledge of Vinfen organization and management practices
  • Knowledge of UKG , and Virtual Edge, Excel, Outlook, and other business applications
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a professional and confidential capacity
  • Sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability, and gender issues
  • Participatory, collaborative, facilitation skills
  • Ability to balance many competing priorities
  • A minimum of seven to ten years HR manager experience in high volume recruiting and employee relations environment, preferably in human services or multi-site service.
  • Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience.

  • PHR or SPHR strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned HR Managers and Generalists. This includes hiring, directing, coaching, evaluating, and disciplining. Ensures competency and adherence to HR best practices and timely completion of all job tasks.
  • Under the supervisor of the Director of Employee Relations, reviews corrective action documents, investigations, and other written materials to ensure quality and
  • By reviewing spreadsheets, requisition reports, and other reports, monitors the productivity and quality of his or her reports; ensures all deadlines are met and that quality and thoroughness of work is maintained.
  • Provides consultation and support in implementing employee relations initiatives, such as staffing and performance management.
  • Provides guidance and support to operations management regarding human resources issues, such as discrimination, harassment, performance, corrective action, and terminations. Acts as coach for all employee relations issues, seeking assistance, as needed.
  • Conducts or participate in employee investigations concerning all matters of alleged employee misconduct or neglect under the direction of the Director of HR.
  • Initiates and manage all suspension and termination matters under the direction of the Director of HR.
  • Serves as first point of contact for all general employee questions concerning such areas as benefits, wages, training, supervision, and leave.
  • Performs recruitment and selection activities for various positions in a timely and cost-effective manner. Coordinate with program management to determine job vacancies, job specifications, and salary levels.
  • Manages the relationship with Vinfen’s unemployment services vendor to assure the most favorable unemployment claims experience and proper representation at unemployment favorable unemployment claims experience and proper representation at unemployment hearings.
