About The Position

Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse is a multi-religious nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic violence, sexual violence, and elder abuse. Safe Havens provides education, resources, and technical assistance to faith-based organizations and domestic and sexual violence advocates to catalyze partnerships and to create systemic change to support survivors and promote justice and long-term social change. Their approach to intervention and prevention prioritizes the safety of victims over any religious, political, or financial interests. Because domestic violence and elder abuse cut across all boundaries of religion, age, race, ethnicity, class, language, culture, gender, sexual orientation, and geography, Safe Havens works with many diverse communities. Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse is a fiscal sponsor client of Third Sector New England, Inc.

Requirements

  • MSW, Ed., MPA, MPH, M.Div., M.T.S., or BA with equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years of experience in field of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or elder abuse
  • Four to six years of organizational management experience
  • Excellent organizational, communications, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge, comfort, and experience working with individuals and groups of diverse racial, cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds
  • Extensive computer skills including experience with Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Grant writing and fundraising experience
  • Ability to speak and teach about abuse and its effects on faith-affiliated victims and survivors
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both advocates and faith leaders
  • Knowledge of S. Constitution and constraints on faith-based work that is supported by federal or state funds
  • Experience with running social media, creating communications, donor data bases
  • Excellent writing, editing, facilitation, training, and public speaking skills
  • Proven commitment to social justice (including work to end racism and other forms of oppression and full inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community) and to work in religious community to end domestic and sexual violence and elder abuse
  • Ability to respond effectively to numerous and sometimes competing demands
  • Flexibility to work demanding schedule that will include evenings and weekends and travel in state (car and valid driver’s license necessary) and nationwide
  • Ability to speak and teach scripturally and theologically about abuse and its effects on faith-affiliated victims and survivors

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director in representing Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse in community and national settings.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with funders, diverse faith community representatives, local and national service providers, and community partners.
  • Responsible for all aspects of public relations, newsletters, social media, website and agency publications.
  • Responsible for maintaining communications platforms.
  • Work with Director to write and report on grant activities.
  • Collaborate with Director on direct appeals and development of relationships with individual donors, constituents, and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for maintaining donor databases.
  • Supervise seminary interns, fellows, and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with staff to accomplish mission of Safe Havens.
  • Collaborate with Director in identifying and acting on new opportunities both locally and nationally and building capacity around emerging issues.
  • Address theological and scriptural issues at the intersection of faith and abuse.
  • Collaborate with Director to develop programming for national and local audiences.
  • Assist Director in management, evaluation, and reporting of programs.
  • Lead in centering agency’s work to end racism, ageism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of hatred and oppression, diversify staff and program participants, reach out to marginalized and underserved communities, and welcome everyone to take their part in Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse's work and journey.
  • Maintain Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse’ office-wide performance standards by adhering to values that are common to all Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse staff, including but not limited to: working as a member of the Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse team and endeavoring to recognize and understand others’ roles; upholding the highest ethical standards in every aspect of work; valuing the differences among and contributions of the Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse staff and stakeholders; treating others with professionalism and courtesy.
