About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody values of excellence, compassion, teamwork, and purpose to join its leadership team as the Director of Community Outreach and Engagement. This role strategically drives IU Health's mission to improve community health through innovation and excellence in care, education, research, and service. The Director leads the preservation of IU Health's non-profit status and community benefit reporting, advancing corporate social responsibility (CSR) in measurable ways. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining outreach priorities based on community health needs assessments, evaluating existing programs for community needs alignment and strategic goal achievement, and leading a team in developing innovative programs and initiatives. The Director collaborates with external community groups and agencies to assess needs, measure community health status, and drive community relations and benefit efforts. The ideal candidate will be a highly effective leader capable of inspiring teams, building collaborative partnerships, navigating complex systems, and translating strategic vision into measurable results. This role requires comfort in launching innovative initiatives, generating growth opportunities, and bringing diverse stakeholders together to improve community health outcomes. Identifying emerging opportunities, activating teams toward shared goals, and cultivating broad engagement across regions and disciplines are essential.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Marketing or related field is required.
Requires 7-10 years of relevant management experience.
Requires experience in developing and implementing community health programs and initiatives.
Requires experience in a complex, matrix organization.
Requires knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local regulatory agency guidelines and laws.

Nice To Haves

Master's Degree preferred.
Experience in developing and implementing community health programs and initiatives is preferred.
Strong clinical background preferred.
