About The Position

The Assistant Director of Broadcast Operations and Creative Video Storytelling is responsible for assisting the Director of Broadcast operations for all of the productions of live sporting events for Stony Brook Athletics. Those responsibilities include creating and producing live events for all conferences, linear tv and in house broadcasts along with managing in-venue scoreboards and technical assistant. The Assistant Director will help provide supervision for all gameday and student staff while maintaining all technical equipment. In addition, the Assistant Director will help create, produce and edit digital, video and graphic content in support of the department’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Two (2) years of full time experience with video production and/or live event production for video boards and/or streaming television.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Game-day management or broadcast experience within a college or professional athletics environment.
  • Experience with Ross Carbonite, NewTek TriCaster, Blue Frame Production Truck, Ross XPression, 3Play, and/or DVSport.
  • Experience with video editing software such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, etc).
  • Experience working with student workers and/or independent contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, strategizing and execution of in venue video boards and live sporting events for Stony Brook Athletics, including all linear tv games and streamed broadcasts.
  • Set up and maintain audio/video equipment for all events that take place in the department’s venues.
  • Help run the production room before, during and after live productions which may include directing, technical directing and operation of replay and graphic machines.
  • Work closely with the Director to ensure all conference quality standards are met and broadcast packages updated and maintained.
  • Assist in the maintenance of all equipment needed for productions.
  • Troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with other members of external staff on gameday scripts to ensure a first-rate fan experience.
  • Serve as the key member of the staff who will help execute all gameday graphic, video and digital strategy in support of our mission.
  • Assist the Director in production of the “Wolfie’s.”
  • Manage the training and mentoring of the Athletic student assistants/interns and volunteers.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Benefits

  • $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
