About The Position

The Assistant Director of Cranford YMCA Member Services oversees the Membership Unit of the Cranford YMCA operation with regards to: the development and administration of the Cranford YMCA’s membership budget, the overall quality and delivery of membership services, the attainment of new membership and program enrollments, member retention, conversion expectations and an exceptional level of member satisfaction. The incumbent will also directly supervise all Team Leaders that work at Cranford; support the Association Risk Management Program and demonstrate commitment to the Y’s four Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. The Assistant Director of Cranford YMCA Member Services is a member of the Westfield Area YMCA’s professional staff team and will maintain the qualifications for professional status as listed in the personnel policy.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain ASHI Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers, ASHI Basic First Aid and ASHI Oxygen or equivalent within 30 days of employment.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business or marketing.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Proficient in problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in financial aptitude.
  • Proficient in supervisory skills.
  • Able to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with YMCA members, staff, volunteers, supervisors, business associates, vendors and the general public.
  • Demonstrates strong abilities in staff leadership/management.
  • Demonstrates strong abilities in fiscal administration.
  • Demonstrates strong abilities in membership and program enrollments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Membership Unit of the Cranford YMCA operation.
  • Develops and administers the Cranford YMCA’s membership budget.
  • Ensures the overall quality and delivery of membership services.
  • Drives the attainment of new membership and program enrollments.
  • Focuses on member retention and conversion expectations.
  • Ensures an exceptional level of member satisfaction.
  • Directly supervises all Team Leaders at Cranford.
  • Supports the Association Risk Management Program.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the Y’s four Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Maintains qualifications for professional status as listed in the personnel policy.
  • Ensures coverage of the membership unit/operation.
  • Responsible for crossover training of key membership staff.
  • Ensures all Membership transactions/tasks/procedures are conducted in accordance with membership department/Association policies and procedures.
  • Assists with collecting all Accounts Receivables related to Cranford YMCA Membership dues.
  • Assists with investigating and overseeing third-party memberships and insurance programs.
  • Oversees the program’s billing responsibilities at Cranford Y and Westfield Area Y.
  • Acts as an ambassador for the Cranford YMCA, assisting with friend-raising and fundraising.
  • Responsible for reviewing, monitoring and approving employee timecards for Cranford YMCA staff.
  • Participates in community events, i.e., street fairs, Chamber of Commerce, etc.
  • Leads community outreach for Cranford YMCA and its service area.
  • Collaborates with other not-for-profit community organizations and those whose mission aligns with ours.
  • Assists as needed in covering shifts at the Main Y or Bauer Branch.
  • Works harmoniously with the Cranford YMCA Branch Director to increase membership, promote programs, and special events.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director of Member Services at the Main Y to maximize efficiency, productivity, and grow membership at both locations.
  • Supports the Marketing Director and ensures optimal use of the membership and program promotions and marketing resources to realize new and renewal objectives.
  • Performs any additional membership/leadership duties assigned by Assistant Vice President of Member Services & Programs, COO or designee.
