The Assistant Director of Community Sports & Active Recreation provides strategic leadership, management, and oversight of BREC’s community sports, active recreation programs, leagues, partnerships, and related facilities. This position is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating a diverse portfolio of recreation opportunities, including youth and adult athletics, tennis, pickleball, disc golf, tournaments, open play, and other active recreation initiatives. The position establishes and maintains operational standards for program quality, customer service, safety, facility utilization, league operations, and partner accountability while promoting consistent and effective service delivery. The Assistant Director collaborates with internal departments, community organizations, schools, municipalities, and recreation providers to expand access, strengthen partnerships, and meet evolving community recreation needs. As a key member of the Recreation leadership team, this position oversees staff, budgets, performance measures, and operational planning while advancing opportunities that support health, wellness, youth development, community engagement, and quality of life throughout East Baton Rouge Parish.
