About The Position

The Assistant Director for Career Development, Private Sector (AD) provides expert career counseling to UCI Law’s 500 J.D. students, particularly those interested in pursuing private sector legal careers. As a recognized leader in providing private interest career advice and an expert in the private sector legal market, the AD is expected to make meaningful contributions to these organizations by presenting at conferences or contributing to articles or other initiatives. The AD is also expected to participate in the leadership of these organizations. To increase private sector opportunities for J.D. students, the AD also independently formulates recruiting strategies related to employer participation in UCI Law’s on-campus interview programs. To successfully do so, the AD must have knowledge of the current state and future direction of the job market, be familiar with relevant information resources, and be able to conduct research effectively and efficiently.
