About The Position

The Assistant Director will coordinate with the Department to establish the processes and strategies needed to support current and emerging activities, specifically managing all aspects of marketing, communication, and event planning. Manage and coordinate all aspects of in-person, hybrid, and virtual events from concept through to ideation and event execution. Plan small to large-scale events such as conferences, seminars, symposia, and workshops, as well as advise on ideas for events, catering options, space, and staffing needs. Manage event budgets and provide financial oversight. Assess and recommend changes to existing protocols to optimize efficiency. Develop and implement a communication strategy to keep all stakeholders updated in all aspects of the Department’s work. Manage and maintain multiple websites and social media platforms to reflect the latest activity in each respective domain. Work closely with both internal and external stakeholders both locally and internationally. International travel may occasionally be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in events management, marketing, creative design, and/or communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior level leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage complex projects.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
  • Familiarity with website creation and maintenance.
  • Willingness and eagerness to remain agile and flexible, taking on new projects on an ongoing basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree
  • Degree in related field
  • Familiarity with Korean culture and language, or familiarity with Arabic language.
  • Previous experience working in more than one sector, i.e. academia and industry, or government and academia, etc.
