About The Position

The Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life is responsible for supporting fraternity and sorority students in the development of strategic, community-wide initiatives and the strengthening of chapter infrastructure to advance the missions of both their respective organizations and Northern Kentucky University. This position oversees all programmatic and policy-related functions within the fraternity and sorority community. The role provides leadership, professional development, and supervision for the Fraternity and Sorority Life program, while collaborating closely with campus partners across Student Engagement, including but not limited to the Student Union, Campus Recreation, University Housing, and the Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement. The Assistant Director also works in partnership with the Office of Student Conduct to address chapter-level conduct matters as well as individual student concerns. Additionally, this position serves as the primary advisor to the Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and/or the Multicultural Greek Council, and directly supervises the Fraternity and Sorority Life Graduate Assistant.

Requirements

  • Master's degree and 2 years of related experience required.
  • Must possess strong computer competence, including but not limited to word, excel, and social media and marketing mediums.
  • Experience planning and executing large-scale events
  • Valid driver license required, ability to drive, comfortable with driving a minivan.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate or professional experience in fraternity and sorority advising, student organization advising, program/event planning, leadership development programming is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary advisor to the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and/or the Multicultural Greek Council. This includes, conducting one-on-one meetings with Council presidents, attending executive board and general body meetings, and overseeing recruitment.
  • Supervision of Fraternity and Sorority Life graduate assistant position
  • Direct the development of departmental workshops, retreats, and leadership programs for Chapter and Council leadership as well as general membership.
  • Plan and implement departmentally sponsored social, cultural, educational, recreational, and recognition programs that elevate and advance the concerns of the Fraternity and Sorority community. Such efforts include programs targeting leadership development, scholarship, service, membership development, risk management, and crisis management.
  • Coordinate and implement office policies, practices, and procedures that align with best practices and university policy.
  • Maintains accurate membership records, recruitment statistics, and scholarship reports.
  • Publish scholarship standings each semester on the Fraternity and Sorority Life website.
  • Maintain direct communication with all Inter/National Headquarters and Executive Offices for all chapters and councils with active charters, as well as those who are interested or have been invited to establish.
  • Develop a long-term plan for the growth and development of the Fraternity and Sorority Community that is responsive to student needs and includes, but is not limited to, the exploration of dedicated Chapter space and the addition of chapters and councils.
