About The Position

Provides leadership support for Indiana Wesleyan's efforts in the Intercultural & Global Office with recruiting and retaining ethnically diverse students at IWU, programming through the Intercultural & Global Office, and support across a variety of programs for diverse and global students, faculty, and staff. The assistant will collaborate closely with the office staff to plan and implement initiatives that promote the holistic well-being and support of multicultural student-athletes and artists.

Requirements

Strong Christian commitment and adherence to the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Must be able to counsel both individuals and groups in multicultural settings and in issues that arise in diversity and inclusion.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures, intersections and identities.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple administrative tasks effectively and efficiently, and able to delegate responsibilities to others.
Minimum of two (2) years working in higher education.
Strongly committed to be Christ-centered in all areas of work and alignment with Indiana Wesleyan's foundational beliefs.
Knowledgeable and experienced in the fields of international, multicultural, and intercultural student education.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work in a well-structured work environment.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree preferred in intercultural studies, student development, education administration, community development, counseling, or related field.
Multilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the Executive Director to establish a culture of Christ-centeredness through one-on-one discipleship for American ethnic, international, MK, and TCK students and the implementation of spiritual practices in IGO that honor the Imago Dei, foster intercultural engagement and reconciliation, and inhibit personal spiritual growth.
Collaborate with the Spiritual Formation office to host Kingdom Diversity small groups in The Lounge in different languages.
Create ways for students to submit prayer requests and pray for each other.
Host multicultural worship services with a diverse form of cultural expression, language, and traditions grounded in the Wesleyan faith.
Send weekly spiritual reflections via email to the IGO community, featuring inspiring Scripture and biblical understanding of Kingdom Diversity.
Provide students with the opportunity to put their faith into action by serving in local or global settings during spring break.
Offer trip opportunities like attending a conference (Mosaix), a worship concert, etc., that will encourage and promote spiritual growth in the students' lives.
Assist the Executive Director in the advising process for the IGO’s Intercultural Christ Ambassadors with organizing and executing impactful external campus-wide cultural programming, celebrating heritage months, promoting racial reconciliation, and global engagement.
Coordinate and oversee all internal cultural programming in the IGO Lounge and The SPOT to encourage cross-cultural community building and foster a sense of belonging for multicultural students.
Support key IGO signature events, including: Beyond Borders Day of Common Learning, Monthly Cultural Heritage Celebrations, and Additional multicultural programs and events designated by the Executive Director.
Coordinate, plan, and lead life skills and professional workshops in the Intercultural & Global Office, equipping students with essential skills for personal and professional development while fostering community and belonging.
Manages the recruitment (applications and hiring), training, and ongoing development of the IGO’s Intercultural Christ Ambassadors Program, ensuring they are equipped to support intercultural programs and initiatives effectively.
Assist the Executive Director with the SALT training, and IGO’s pre-orientation curriculum and retreat logistics to onboard student leaders in their roles, preparing them to engage in Kingdom Diversity efforts and interactions both professionally and intentionally.
Assist the Executive Director with leading bi-weekly leadership programming as needed, focused on personal, spiritual, and professional development, including key areas such as leadership competencies, business acumen, and Cultural Intelligence (CQ).
Assist the Executive Director with intentional CQ training workshops for Residence Halls and Student Leaders across campus.
Develop and implement strategies to improve the recruitment of high-caliber Luther Lee scholars.
Empower Luther Lee scholars to support growth, resilience, and leadership success by coordinating co-curricular activities and programming that consist of holistic care (Academic success, CQ training, servant and leadership development, character formation and spiritual discipleship, social connections).
Act as a liaison between the John Wesleyan Honors Program, faculty, athletics, enrollment management, and mentors to ensure the success of all enrolled scholars in the Luther Lee Scholars Program.
Foster a sense of community among new Luther Lee Scholars through team-building exercises, discussions, social events, and retreats that highlight the importance of Kingdom diversity and belonging.
Ensure that students are actively engaged in the program, providing accountability support for any academic, social, or personal challenges they may encounter through their time in IWU.
Facilitate one-on-one mentoring connections and retreats to develop a network of relationships that support each scholar's success during their time at IWU.
Offer outreach initiatives to encourage student engagement and servant leadership.
Oversee the planning and execution of the Pre-college Immersion Experience (PIE Week) for Luther Lee scholars, ensuring a dedicated emphasis on helping them acclimate to college life, building connections with their cohort, and engaging with campus resources.
Implement assessment tools for scholars to evaluate the success of the program based on their experience, annually, and consistently identify areas for improvement.
Advocate for students from diverse cultural backgrounds—domestic and international—by connecting them with resources that promote academic success, social thriving, and personal development.
Serve as a supportive resource for diverse student populations, including international students, Third Culture Kids (TCKs), students of color, and those with intersecting identities, ensuring they feel seen, valued, and connected within the campus community.
Utilize the Maxient Reporting system and Thrive 360 to document and gather data on individual care meetings with American ethnic, international, MK, and TCK students.
Serve in the RISER committee and the Student Care team to advocate for American ethnic, International, MK, and TCK students.
Partner with the Academic Thriving Center to effectively utilize Thrive 360, identify students at risk.
Partner with the Academic Center to hold effective study nights in the IGO and care well for American ethnic, international, MK, and TCK students.
Serve on institutional committees assigned by the Executive Director.
Actively participate in campus visit days, New Student Orientation, Parent Panel discussions, and other recruitment events, effectively communicating the mission, values, and offerings of IWU and the IGO.
Engage with prospective students, parents, and community members during recruitment events, offering insights into the campus culture, academic programs, and student life at IWU.
Share information about IGO initiatives and resources during campus events, fostering awareness and encouraging participation among students, parents, and faculty.
Work closely with admissions, student affairs, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination of recruitment, leadership training, multicultural programming, and advancement of Kingdom diversity efforts across campus.
Actively represent IWU & the IGO at recruitment events, welcome weekend, homecoming, graduations, student games, and more to make an impact through the IGO to students, family, alumni, and employees.
Implement assessment tools to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of cross-departmental collaboration, gathering feedback from faculty, staff, and students to refine strategies and improve the impact of Kingdom Diversity initiatives.
Oversee the financial management of the Student Affinity groups, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and fiscal responsibility.
Track program outcomes, maintain detailed engagement data, and report key findings related to student participation, academic success, and retention to campus leadership.
Regularly assess programs for effectiveness and propose improvements to align with evolving student needs and campus goals.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed of current trends, best practices, and research in intercultural engagement, Kingdom Diversity, event planning, and student success.
Share knowledge with campus stakeholders to foster a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment.
Serve on institutional committees and task forces as assigned by the Executive Director.
Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of the Intercultural & Global Office.
