About The Position

UW Medicine Advancement has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director for Alumni Engagement to join their team. Reporting to the Senior Director for Alumni Engagement, the Assistant Director for Alumni Engagement strengthens lifelong connections among UW School of Medicine alumni, current residents and fellows, GME alumni, faculty alumni, and emeritus faculty. This collaborative role partners across UW Medicine departments, residency and fellowship programs, the Office of Graduate Medical Education, the School of Medicine Alumni Association, and UW Medicine Advancement to create meaningful engagement, stewardship, volunteer, and philanthropic pathways. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree AND three or more years of experience in communications, engagement, fundraising, project management, or a related area.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary Alumni Association contact for UW Medicine departments, residency and fellowship directors, the Office of GME, and Advancement partners; provide guidance and coordination for alumni engagement strategies, resident/fellow initiatives, and GME alumni outreach.
  • Build and sustain strategic relationships with GME alumni, faculty alumni, and emeritus faculty through targeted outreach, one-on-one engagement, volunteer opportunities, events, recognition initiatives, and connections to the School of Medicine Alumni Association.
  • Coordinate and document engagement and fundraising-related activities, including alumni contact lists, contact reports, affiliation records, data updates, Husky Giving Day messaging support, and collaboration on opportunities aligned with GME alumni interests and School of Medicine priorities.
  • Lead the development, expansion, and ongoing maintenance of alumni career support resources, including a career support hub that is accurate, accessible, and aligned with Advancement standards.
  • Recruit and support volunteers for the alumni career support network, helping connect alumni expertise with current and future members of the UW Medicine community.
  • Coordinate and expand alumni and volunteer stewardship efforts, including recognition of professional achievements, volunteer contributions, personal milestones, and compassionate outreach to families of deceased alumni.
  • Support School of Medicine Alumni Association events and recognition activities by coordinating timelines, gathering content, tracking details, and partnering with communications colleagues on delivery.
  • Collect, update, and maintain alumni data from contact updates, surveys, voicemail, postcard campaigns, and other sources; serve as a lead for designated tools and consistent documentation practices.
  • Track engagement metrics, participation trends, outreach effectiveness, and constituent activity; recommend improvements that strengthen data quality, program outcomes, cultivation, and stewardship strategies.
