About The Position

Chicago Medical School seeks a dynamic, relationship-oriented, and mission-driven professional to serve as Assistant Director for Admissions. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Admissions, the Assistant Director will play an integral role in shaping the future physician workforce by supporting recruitment, applicant engagement, admissions review, advising, and strategic initiatives. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in admissions, enrollment management, advising, student affairs, or a related area.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and solve complex problems.
  • Experience building relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, virtual engagement platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Public Health, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Experience in medical school, graduate, or health professions admissions.
  • Familiarity with AMCAS, AMP, Slate, AAMC resources, and mission review practices.
  • Experience utilizing data to inform recruitment, enrollment, or student success initiatives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community engagement, student development, and educational access.
  • Experience planning events, presentations, or outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of innovative recruitment strategies that attract talented and mission-aligned applicants.
  • Represent Chicago Medical School at regional and national recruitment events, conferences, pre-health advising programs, and virtual outreach initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, advisors, pathway program partners, and community organizations.
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing staff to develop engaging recruitment materials and messaging.
  • Assist with special recruitment initiatives, pathway programs, and community engagement efforts.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for prospective applicants throughout the admissions process.
  • Provide individual and group advising to prospective applicants, including pre-application guidance and post-cycle counseling.
  • Develop and facilitate informational webinars, workshops, and virtual engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of admissions trends, best practices, and AAMC guidelines.
  • Support efforts to create a welcoming, informative, and responsive applicant experience.
  • Conduct thoughtful, mission-aligned reviews of AMCAS applications, secondary applications, and supporting materials.
  • Participate in applicant screening, interview processes, and admissions committee activities.
  • Contribute to reviewer training, calibration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in evaluating applicants through a mission review framework that considers academic achievement, experiences, attributes, and mission alignment.
  • Design and implement virtual engagement programs that support applicant recruitment, yield efforts, and admissions communications.
  • Coordinate webinars, student panels, information sessions, and virtual events.
  • Collaborate with admissions, communications, and student ambassadors to develop meaningful engagement opportunities for prospective and admitted students.
  • Explore innovative approaches to applicant engagement using emerging technologies and communication strategies.
  • Assist with admissions data analysis, reporting, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Support accreditation reporting, benchmarking studies, and annual admissions reports.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to special projects and initiatives that advance the goals of the Office of Admissions and Chicago Medical School.
