About The Position

Muhlenberg College invites applications for an individual eager to join a diverse, dynamic, and student-centered Admissions team. The Assistant Director of Admissions will participate in the recruitment initiatives of the office, including application review, interviewing students, outreach activities, program and event participation, and recruitment travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Able and willing to travel, including long distance travel by automobile, train, and airplane to cover recruitment travel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming, student-centered experience for prospective students and families.
  • A strong commitment and understanding of the benefits of a residential liberal arts and sciences undergraduate experience.
  • Experience working effectively and supporting inclusion within a diverse community (prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and visitors, etc.).
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with public speaking and presentation experience.
  • Willing and able to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends (approximately ~4-5 weekends per semester, abbreviated hours, with remote work available in some cases).
  • The ability to transport materials, which may be heavy at times, and to effectively and dynamically present to audiences (e.g. at high schools, prospective student days, etc.).
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Successful completion of satisfactory background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience in an undergraduate admission office, as either a professional or a student tour guide, or experience with high schools, community colleges, and/or community-based organizations supporting college access and success.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation, transfer, international, or underrepresented students.
  • Experience living or working in New York City or professional knowledge of the New York City school system. (The travel territory for this position may include the New York City region).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with high school counselors, community-based organizations, independent counselors, alumni, and other external partners within assigned recruitment territories.
  • Utilize the College's CRM (Slate) and other technology systems to document student interactions, manage communications, monitor recruitment activity, and support data-informed recruitment strategies and reporting.
  • Conduct personalized outreach to prospective students and families through phone, email, text messaging, virtual appointments, and other communication platforms to guide students through the enrollment process.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, financial aid, student affairs, and other campus partners to support recruitment initiatives and provide exceptional service to prospective students and families.
  • In collaboration with supervisor and VP for Enrollment Management, analyze recruitment data and market trends to develop and implement strategic territory plans that support enrollment goals.
  • Represent Muhlenberg College to prospective students, families, and counselors at events ranging from one-on-one meetings to large presentations.
  • Evaluate applications for admission, interview prospective students, and serve on the Admissions Committee.
  • Explain financial aid processes, timelines, and available resources to prospective students and families, partnering closely with the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to assist students in understanding their financial aid offers and college affordability.
  • Manage program portfolio and confidential records that may include data management, office/market research, travel management, special population outreach, and communications depending upon skill set and interest.
  • Meet established recruitment goals for inquiries, applications, campus visits, admits, and enrolled students within assigned territories.
  • Other duties as assigned.
