Assistant Director - Facility Operations

About The Position

Responsible for the general and preventive maintenance of facility equipment, buildings, furniture, fixtures, and grounds, including monitoring work performed by outside vendors or contractors. The role manages facility maintenance and equipment, building operations, structural maintenance, regulatory and building-code compliance, and facility operational effectiveness and safety. It also supervises department staff, manages budgets and inventory, oversees small projects and facility design or renovation work, and is on call for building emergencies. Management may add or remove duties as circumstances require.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in facilities management or operations.
Five or more years of experience in a similar position.
Valid state driver's license.
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification; training is available upon hire and offered by the facility.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of supervisory experience.
Valid Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) certification.
First aid may be required depending on the state or facility.

Responsibilities

Manage activities involved in maintaining facilities and equipment.
Oversee building operations, including structural maintenance.
Ensure regulatory and building-code compliance, safe operations, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Direct, supervise, and evaluate department staff; manage hiring, development, training, performance management, and communication.
Serve as project manager for small-scale, short-duration projects.
Develop and manage budget and inventory systems.
Manage facility design and renovation projects.
Analyze metrics and recommend improvements or solutions to identified issues.
Initiate and authorize repairs or replacements and prepare related cost estimates.
Be on call for building emergencies.
Maintain facility operational effectiveness and safety.
Perform other assigned functions and tasks.
Monitor work performed by outside vendors or contractors.
