About The Position

UF Health Shands Hospital is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Facility Operations to provide leadership and oversight of facility operations across its health system environment. The role plans, organizes, directs, and controls the department’s administrative and operational activities to support a safe, efficient, and highly reliable healthcare environment.

The Director leads the administration and operation of facility engineering and maintenance functions, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and effective management of facility infrastructure in support of patients, staff, and visitors. The position oversees departmental operations and fosters a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
• At least 15 years of facility engineering experience.
• At least 8 years of supervisory experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in a multi-hospital environment.
• Experience must include at least one hospital with more than 400 licensed beds.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable healthcare facility regulations and standards, including Joint Commission (JCAHO), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) standards, as well as other applicable regulatory requirements.

• Provide leadership and oversight of facility operations and engineering functions.
• Ensure department operations support organizational goals and operational excellence.
• Promote compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Lead and develop facility operations teams within a complex healthcare environment.
• Support the maintenance, reliability, and performance of facility infrastructure and systems.
