About The Position

The Assistant Director assists the Director of Environmental Services in directing and overseeing the operational needs of the Housekeeping Department. The role coordinates the work of Operations Managers, serves as a liaison between administration and hospital departments, and helps provide the highest possible level of service. Responsibilities include overseeing staff and housekeeping operations, ensuring adequate service across facility areas, supporting projects and supply management, and assisting with departmental budgets.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work history required.
Strong work ethic, drive, and initiative for quality and customer service.
Excellent written and oral communication, listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills, both one-on-one and in groups.
Ability to use a participative approach to staff management, function appropriately under stress, organize and prioritize tasks, and develop budgets with a complete understanding of facility needs and requirements.
Excellent stress-management, administrative, organizational, and follow-through skills with associates and clients.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of housekeeping procedures.
Demonstrated progressive growth in healthcare housekeeping or facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

Establish and review standards and work procedures for Housekeeping staff in accordance with facility policies and practices.
Plan work schedules, hours, work areas, and job duties to ensure adequate housekeeping services throughout the facility.
Interview, select, hire, evaluate, and recommend termination of facility housekeeping personnel in accordance with facility standards.
Orient, train, develop, and supervise Housekeeping staff.
Conduct regular facility inspections and evaluations, recommend action items, and assist with facility relocations.
Conduct regular staff meetings and communicate with other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities.
Schedule major project work and ensure adequate staff and supplies are available.
Conduct regular inventory of housekeeping supplies.
Assist the Department Director with budgets.
Coordinate the tasks of Operations Managers and act as a liaison between administration and hospital departments.
